This Month at the Park

Spring brings Basketball season to a close

and ushers in P.A.L. Volleyball at the Gym.

Unbeatable

Current leaders in the Parks and Recreation High School Basketball League and looking unbeatable are Tony Hoolulu's Team Nalo, followed closely by Wilbert Ihu's Kaneohe and Jack Torres' and Brad Rezentes' Just Press. Kala Castillo, John Ranit and Josh Akeo coach the fourth place Vipers while Manu Mook and Dustin Gaspar's Eastside and John Christiansens's Kailua round out the standings.

P.A.L. Volleyball is scheduled to be played on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings.

Summer Fun

Registration for Summer Fun at Waimanalo Beach Park and District Park will be held at Waimanalo Gym from 6 to 8:30 pm on May 31, and at both parks on June 1 and 2 from 2 to 5:30 pm. Registration will also be possible on a limited basis on most weekday afternoons from 2 to 5 pm. Please call first to find out which park will be registering on that day.

Both parks will be charging $2 for each of the two bus excursions and $5 entry fee for the Ice Palace Excursion. Cash donations will also be accepted for the school lunch program at registration time. A voluntary donation of $6 is acceptable. This total of $15 in fees is a bargain for this program which goes from June 21 until August 8 from 9 am to 2 pm, except on weekends and the July 4th holiday.

Body Boarding

Entry forms are available for the Waikiki Walls High School Body Boarding Championships on May 20 and 21. Entry fee is $15 and includes an event T-shirt. This event is sponsored by Hawaiian Islands Creation, the Boys and Girls Club of Honolulu, and the Hawaii Youth Gang Response System.

Entry forms are available for the Hawaiian Body Surfing Championships to take place May 27 to 29, or June 3 to 4, at Point Panic, Sandy's, or at Makapu'u. The entry fee is $15 if received by May 24, or $20 late entry, and includes a T-shirt.
